This beautiful 1941 Indian 741B, has been owned since 1970, by the previous fastidious owner, who spent the ensuing 33 years collecting and incorporating as many NOS (new old stock) parts as possible into the brilliant, no expense spared restoration you see here.

This M/C goes as well as it looks, is fully roadworthy and street legal, and would represent one of the best examples of this model.

Engine # GDA 143
Bored and stroked to 740cc, the engine assembly uses an entire new bottom end, stroked original flywheels, new oil pump, new pistons, pins, chrome rings, new cams-subsequently reground to suit added displacement, new cam followers, new big ss exhaust valves, big inlet valves, new valve guides and valve springs, new barrels bored and ported for better gas flow. Front cyl head is new; rear head does have some broken fins, to be expected on a m/c of this vintage. Engine cases, primary and g’ box alloys are all undamaged and have been polished, having done 30 kms since assembly. This engine still needs running in, but is very torquey and strong.

Primary and G’ Box
All good, rebuilt. New primary and generator chains fitted, new clutch plates and discs have been slotted and drilled prior to assembly into new clutch basket for smooth transfer of power, new rubbers fitted to clutch and brake pedals and footboards.

Wheels, tires, brakes
New rims have been chromed and rebuilt with all new felts brakes etc, and shod with new tires. Bike frame, brake cables, brake lite switch etc all new.

Carb, dist, electrics
Good Linkert M741 carb fitted to custom made larger inlet manifold to suit larger inlet ports. Original 3brush generator rebuilt with new cutout, and charges the new smaller 6-volt battery concealed inside the old lucas black rubber case, through new wiring loom. New horn has been repositioned atop headlight for better appearance, new ign/lite switch is fitted alongside reproduction distributor rebuilt with all new parts. This m/c does not have a speedo.

Fuel tanks and sundries
Tanks are sound and do not leak, they have had tank sealer applied internally for added insurance. Repro gas caps do not leak, all guards, fenders, lights, air cleaner and luggage rack are authentic. Pillion foot pegs have been fitted, along with a handhold to the luggage carrier, to which a removable pillion seat can be added. A side stand is fitted, but a rear stand assembly can be furnished with bike. Paintwork is PPG “Regency Red” laquer under clear topcoat, and spare aerosol can of touchup paint will be supplied, plating and general finish of all parts of this m/c is very nice.

Summary: -This very attractive machine should give the new owner many hours of riding pleasure. It starts second kick cold, and first kick hot every time. Should you wish to know any more email Owner Brian Billing, or Broker Greg Cooney
