This little
girder fork 250cc OHV single is in a pretty honest and good running condition
and has been in one family just
about all its life. It was restored in 1967 and exhumes its character earned
since then. It is a good starter and a strong
runner. Has good brakes, great tires, front is near new. Alloy cases are v.good,
no repairs or cracks. Cylinder and head
fins unmolested. This machine has been maintained by the owner, an aircraft
engineer and it tells. Sheet metal is in
sound un-rusted condition and sports original tool box box, orig Joseph Lucas
ammeter, rebuilt Smiths speedo
(requires cable and drive to work). It is fitted with foot change as fitted
optionally by the factory starting in 1935.
She has run the 1/4" mile sprints a couple of times in the late eighties with a
220lb rider for a time of 26sec with foot
change and 24.5sec with hand changes! (positive gate action Id say helping). It
is said to have been timed at speeds
approaching 80mph.
It can be switched between shifters with the change of the
supplied gear linkage. Other Spares provided include the
correct magneto; as its currently fitted with a competition magneto, original
engine plates; as it is fitted with alloy
plates for lightness. Also battery case, original tank transfers, handlebar
rubbers, knee pads, and engine sprocket
(change of gearing). Look below, the old black and white photo is this same bike
taken many years ago.
