1925 37" (600cc) scout engine, transmission and primary including
oil pump and has all the major bits that can not be purchased new or
reproduction and are good, including threads etc. Includes qty new old stock
cam shaft bushes, pinion and drive bearing cages, f/wheel lock washers and
selection of f/wheel thrust washers to help with the rebuild.
The cylinders and heads have the
obligatory amount of broken fins and some fin repairs, alloys has some
pitting in non conspicuous places, quite normal for their age. Remember to
look past the cosmetics, blasting, painting and plating does wonders to the
cosmetics,
The front exhaust nipple is missing its sleeve, good valve seats, (one
frozen inlet valve front cylinder) and valve stem guides will need
replacing. Cylinders should finish no more than about +.020 over standard bore.
Engine cases are good with oil baffles intact, (quite unusual to find
like this). Good
condition cams and oil pump worm spiral (again unusual), good followers,
(one needs a roller). Will benefit from a light grind,/polish.
All alloys, except for timing cover, primary, inner and outer, crankcases
and gearboxes are sound, no
repairs, and checked for cracks in usual places. The timing cover has a
broken spigot for the rear cam, pretty common and a minor issue as its
easily weld -able. Good idler and drive bevel gears, clutch basket good.
Will need plates and fibre discs of course. Gearbox unassembled but complete
and ,
all gears, sliders and cluster great, showing very little wear or damage,
rust is too minor to affected case hardening. Note, cluster will need end
milled for perfect fit negating need for thrust washers. New bushing kit
supplied, tower is v.good too. I think I've covered everything, anything
else just ask.
Summarizing, all in all, a very re-useable and very rebuild-able 83 year
old injin scout motor..
Where will you find another??
P.S The greyish white marks on the jugs and heads is just a phosphate to
retard rust, easily removed.
