This is a 95% complete and original machine and an excellent
antique motorcycle project or mechanically restore and keep original (with very
few parts to find/make) – some extra parts come with it.

History: Originally Abingdon Engineering
(Birmingham. UK), the company made a variety of goods, such as gear boxes,
chains and motorcycles, for several years before concentrating solely on
producing quality, professional user tools from the turn of the twentieth
century onwards.
At that time the King Dick name and logo was adopted. It was that of the Company
Owner's show winning bulldog, and was seen as being symbolic of British tenacity
and strength of character:-

The Machine: The machine before you is a rare example of early
motorcycling history, recently re-discovered and brought to light after 42yrs of
dry storage. The engine has excellent compression, a stroke and bore Size of
85x88 (500cc) and is one of the earliest, complete and original known examples.
The VMCC (UK) Machine Register has a total of 13 AKDs listed, with 6 of them
being 500cc side valves of 1911 through 1914 vintage, only one of which, (the
earliest) is belt drive like yours. Frame numbers run from 1512 to 3096 on the
14, and engine numbers from a low of 221 to a high of 1037
Some of the usual features of this ‘barn-fresh’ period
machine is a total loss oiling system, pedal start, direct belt drive (no gear
box or clutch), ‘handle-bar hooks’ so that when pushing it and it fired up it
wouldn't leave without you because your hand slipped off the handlebar!
